If you’re like most Chicagoans, you’ve been hibernating all winter long. Now that spring is on our doorstep, it’s time to get out there and get some fresh air. Here are some things you can do right now.
- Hit the Lakefront or 606 trails. Whether you like to walk, run, bike, or just hang out at one of the adjoining parks and people watch, the trails are a great way to get some exercise and get outside.
- Run in the Sunrise Marathon 5k, 10k, or half marathon races. What better way to make fitness fun than by getting together a group of friends and participating in one of these classic spring races?
- Head into the country. Your preference may be western Illinois, southern Wisconsin, or southwestern Michigan—the important thing is that you can be out of the city and into the beauty of the springtime countryside in a little over an hour.
- Visit the Botanic Garden. What’s better than 385 acres of nature finally waking up after a long winter? As always, admission is free for all. Check out this page to see what’s in bloom.
