Need to sell your condo this year? Here are four steps to increase your chances of success:
- List as early as possible. While you can list your condo any time of the year, the real estate “season” officially kicks off around March – April and goes through September, after which point sales taper off. The earlier in the year you list your condo for sale, the better your odds of being able to sell.
- Get professional photos taken. People decide which places they want to see based on the online photos. We’ve all seen listings with really professional photos and ones that are perfunctory. The better your photos the more interest you’re going to generate in your place.
- Keep your place showing-ready. It’s a pain to do, but you should try hard to keep your place as nice as possible while you’re still showing it. And, because your realtor might have a last-minute showing at any time, this really means keeping your place pristine all the time — countertops should be clear, clutter should be put away. The good side of this is that once you get used to living like this, you’ll want to keep your plan that nice all the time.
- Don’t be afraid to do a few cosmetic updates. It’s not cost-effective to do any major renovations before you sell, but if you think that a new set of stainless appliances would elevate your kitchen and help you get more money for your place, you may want to do that. Or, it could be something as simple as painting a new accent wall in this year’s trendy color.
We hope these tips help you sell your condo faster and closer to your asking price!
